E-Starter conversion kit for Vincent Comet

Electric starter kits for Vincent Comet are old news for Alton. They designed and produced the prototypes around 2008. The technical challenges were similar to those of other Alton products: efficiency, discretion, respect for the original appearance, total reversibility.

The kit for Vincent Comet is designed to be completely reversible. Apart from a minor modification inside the primary transmission outer casing, no modifications are required to the motorcycle for installation.

The kit includes:

• A reinforced internal primary transmission casing. This is an original design casing, specially manufactured to accommodate the other kit parts.
• A 12-volt electric starter motor
• The starter chain and other starter drive components
• The starter freewheel. It mounts on the crankshaft.
• A primary transmission torque damper specifically designed for mounting the kit (narrow design)
• A special crankshaft nut
• A push button, a starter relay, the cables,
• A generator flange

Recommendations:

Using a jump starter requires a fully charged battery and, therefore, a sufficiently powerful, reliable, and suitable electrical generator. We recommend installing the ACG02 generator for the Vincent Comet. If the motorcycle is already equipped with an Alton generator, there is, of course, no need to purchase a new one.

Recommended battery: YTX16BS (150 x 87 x 161) or YTX14BS (150 x 87 x 145).

The starter kit is designed to operate with the negative (-) terminal connected to ground. If your motorcycle is equipped with the positive (+) terminal connected to ground, we suggest reversing the polarity to match the negative (-) terminal. If, for any reason, you wish to retain the positive (+) terminal, please contact us; we can modify the kit to accommodate this polarity.

Installing the kit isn't very difficult, but it must be carried out with professional care. A good understanding of mechanics and electricity is essential for preparing the installation and for its successful completion. The kit includes comprehensive, illustrated assembly instructions.
