CBE has worked with our tumbling vendor; RP Abrasives in NH, to develop a resurfacing process that will make your skanky old aluminum castings come back to life and, in some ways, be better than new. This process is ideal for cylinder heads, crankcases, gearbox housings and other castings where an as-cast surface is desired with a nice luster. Tumbling smooth’s the surface slightly and makes it less likely to accumulate grit and thereby look nicer, longer with minimal cleaning.
CBE typically does castings in a batch for projects (for example, a Norton has 5 castings) wherein we do the basic cleaning and prep work. The parts are then shipped out and returned in a few weeks.
